This book portrays a collection of the products of Arch 735 Creative Mapping Techniques in Architecture Course initiated as a post-graduate course in 2017 Spring Semester at Metu Department of Architecture.

METUDSYMP2016 has ended up with the publication of the proceeding book as the final outcome of the symposium. The book contains the papers in the form of extended abstracts presented in METU International Symposium on Urban Design in October 4-6, 2016. With thirty-five papers involved, the book suggests a holistic perspective to the contemporary urban design practice, education and research as initially intended in the beginning of the symposium.

Kongre, Orta Doğu Teknik Üniversitesi Mimarlık Tarihi Lisansüstü Programı tarafından düzenlendi. Bu kitap, Türkiye ve yakın çevresindeki coğrafyaların geniş bir dönemi kapsayan mimarlık birikimi üzerine kongrede yapılan sunuşların makalelerini bir araya getirmektedir.

In its simplest sense, the ‘house’ sustains its adventure, which started as ‘an owned place’ and ‘shelter’, through variations in meaning and function that sway between ‘personal space’ and the ‘public domain’. Baykan Günay akademik ve mesleki yaşamı boyunca kentte nitelik arayışı peşinde koşmuştur. Akademik çalışmalarında sürekli “şehircilik nedir?” “planlama ile mimarlık ve peyzaj mimarlığı arasında nasıl bir birliktelik kurulabilir?” sorularını sormuş, birçok çalışmasında kentsel mekânı biçimlendirme süreçlerinin tek bir disiplinin tekeline bırakılamayacağını belirtmiş, bu süreçte planlama, mimarlık, peyzaj mimarlığı, tasarım ve diğer alanlardan uzmanların bir araya gelmesi gerektiğini vurgulamıştır.
