APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

Quota types, requirements for an application based on the quota types, conditions for OSYS, and equivalent examinations are defined in the Middle East Technical University Directive of Transfer in the below-mentioned link.

https://oidb.metu.edu.tr/en/middle-east-technical-university-directive-student-transfers-undergraduate-programs

An equivalent degree programme refers to degree programmes that share the same name or, following a comparison of all the compulsory modules required for graduation from the programme in question by the relevant governing bodies, are found to have at least 80% of their content in common.

In addition to the conditions set out in the guidelines, applicants to the Faculty of Architecture programmes must meet the following requirement:

a) The ratio of the applicant’s ÖSS/LYS/YKS placement score for the year in which they were admitted to the University to the general quota cut-off score for the programme they are applying to in that year must not be less than 0.950

b) Applicants who were admitted to the university through an examination other than the YKS and who wish to transfer to a program different from the one in which they were originally enrolled must have a ratio of at least 0.950 between the minimum admission score of their current program in the year they entered the university and the minimum admission score of the program to which they are applying in the same year.

Applications from candidates who do not meet this condition will be rejected at the preliminary assessment stage.

SUMMER SCHOOL

The courses which are taken in the summer school and their grades are not taken into consideration in the applications for the following Fall semester.

ENGLISH PROFICIENCY EXAM

Students applying from outside METU are required to document their English proficiency at the time of application (including those applying from programmes whose language of instruction is entirely in English)

Applicants can submit METU EPE or any of the exam results which are accepted by the University Senate. The equivalence table for English language exams recognized by METU Senate can be reached by visiting the address:

  • ÖSYS or equivalent exam result document: DGS, LYS, GCE, SAT, ABITUR... (for students of TC/TRNC nationality studying abroad, with the conditions specified in the relevant regulation)

IMPORTANT NOTE: For transfer applications, you need to provide an exam result or high school diploma score along with your university transcript. The exam result/high school diploma score you submit for transfer application will be evaluated by considering the year you have taken the result in question. Your exam result/high school diploma score will be evaluated by considering whether you could be accepted to METU in the year you have taken the score if you had applied to METU. You can see the exam scores and high school diplomas you can submit and accept by METU from the following link: https://iso.metu.edu.tr/en/application-requirements

  • If the exam or diploma score you have applied to your current university does not satisfy the application criterion for transfer to METU (either because exam/diploma score does not satisfy the transfer criterion or because of expiration of validity date in the case of international exams (SAT, ACT)) you can still make a fresh application to undergraduate programs at METU as an international student. In this case, you can make an application to undergraduate programs by taking a new exam score of SAT or ACT, since in the transfer process you can only submit the exam/diploma score you used to apply to your current university and do not accept any other. If your freshmen application gets accepted, you can still make a credit transfer if your new department at METU accepts it.
