Mission, Vision, and Core Values of the METU Faculty of Architecture
Mission:
To be a pioneering and an respected faculty at the national and international levels in the fields of architecture, city and regional planning, and industrial design; grounded in critical and creative thinking, ethical responsibility, and public interest; prioritizing environmental, cultural, and economic sustainability; effectively utilizing digital and production technologies; and producing innovative solutions at local and global scales through interdisciplinary collaboration in education, research, and societal contribution.
Vision:
In the fields of architecture, city and regional planning, and industrial design:
• To provide a qualified learning environment that supports critical thinking through creative and analytical approaches and integrates technological innovations into design and planning processes,
• To generate theoretical and practical knowledge aimed at designing sustainable, inclusive, and livable environments,
• To cultivate individuals who are sensitive to ethical values, public interest, and social justice, and to contribute to social welfare through projects carried out in collaboration with the public sector, private sector, and civil society,
• To develop research grounded in co-production with national and international stakeholders, while promoting interdisciplinary studies.
Core Values:
• The Faculty establishes an academic environment that empowers students and academics to think freely, encouraging critical and inquisitive approaches, and bases its scientific production on this understanding.
• It adopts an approach that considers environmental, social, and cultural sustainability in design, planning, and research processes, evaluating long-term impacts.
